Riyadh, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Akasa Air has announced a temporary suspension of all flights to and from Riyadh until October 13, following a series of attacks at King Khalid International Airport. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) reported that dozens were injured in the attacks, prompting a halt in airport operations.
In a statement on social media platform X, Akasa Air cited ongoing security concerns as the reason for the extension of the flight suspension. The airline is closely monitoring the situation and assessing developments in real time.
Affected passengers have the option for a full refund, which will be processed back to the original payment method within seven days. Alternatively, travelers can reschedule their flights without incurring any additional fees. Those who booked through travel partners are advised to contact them directly for assistance. The safety and well-being of passengers and crew remain the airline’s top priority.
Egypt has condemned the attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid Airport, calling them a blatant violation of international law. In its statement shared on X, Egypt expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia, affirming its support for all measures taken to ensure the nation’s security and protect its citizens. The ministry also emphasized that targeting aviation undermines international safety and stability, extending condolences to the Saudi government and people while wishing for a swift recovery for the injured.
On Thursday, the Iran-backed Houthi rebels carried out attacks at King Khalid International Airport, leading to the fatalities of three Saudi nationals, including a pilot. Earlier, GACA reported that attacks had also occurred on October 6 and 7 at both Abha and King Khalid International Airports.
