Vice President CP Radhakrishnan Meets Guyanas VP to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

New Delhi, February 24: Vice President CP Radhakrishnan met with Dr. Bharat Jagdeo, the Vice President of Guyana, on Monday in New Delhi. The discussion focused on enhancing bilateral relations across various sectors.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to amplifying the voice of the Global South in international forums, including the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.

Following the meeting, the Vice President’s office posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “Dr. Bharat Jagdeo, Vice President of Guyana, paid a courtesy visit to Vice President CP Radhakrishnan at the Vice President’s residence in New Delhi. They discussed measures to strengthen India-Guyana relations across diverse fields. Dr. Jagdeo praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s decisive leadership and India’s rapid progress in digital governance and financial inclusion through UPI. Both sides also explored the possibility of implementing similar models in Guyana. The Guyanese delegation expressed interest in India’s e-migrate platform and the ITEC program.”

Last month, Guyana’s President Irfan Ali extended heartfelt wishes to PM Narendra Modi and the people of India on Republic Day. He noted that as the world’s largest democracy, India continues to advocate for the interests and aspirations of developing nations on the global stage.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’ on January 26, President Ali stated, “On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day of India, we extend our warmest congratulations to the Government and people of India in memory of their constitutional adoption and the enduring ideals enshrined within it.”

He further remarked, “India’s struggle for independence and its peaceful transition from colonial rule has sparked hope in the developing world, inspiring many nations to achieve sovereignty and determine their futures. As the world’s largest democracy, India supports the interests and aspirations of developing countries on the global platform.”

President Ali emphasized that Guyana values its relationship with India, noting that the ties between the two nations have evolved into a strong partnership based on mutual respect and collaboration across various sectors.

He stated, “Guyana proudly values its deep and historical relationship with India, forged through shared history, kinship, and a commitment to democracy and development. These ties have transformed into a robust partnership grounded in mutual respect and cooperation across diverse fields.”
