Chamoli, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called on devotees to visit the sacred Rudranath Temple, one of the Panch Kedar shrines, located in Chamoli district. In a recent post on the social media platform X, he emphasized the temple’s significance as a holy site dedicated to Lord Shiva, where worshippers revere his face form.
CM Dhami wrote, “The Rudranath Temple, situated in Chamoli, is not only a spiritual center for many devotees but also captivates visitors with its natural beauty. Be sure to visit Rudranath during your trip to Chamoli.”
The temple’s doors were ceremonially opened on May 18 of this year. For the next six months, regular prayers and religious rituals will take place until the temple closes for winter on October 17. According to legend, the Pandavas constructed the Panch Kedar temples. Reaching Rudranath requires a trek of 20 to 22 kilometers.
Nestled in the Himalayas, the Rudranath Temple is the fourth significant shrine along the Panch Kedar pilgrimage route. The journey to the temple is challenging, offering breathtaking views of peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Nanda Ghunti. Here, Lord Shiva is worshipped as ‘Neelkanth Mahadev.’ The temple is set in a beautiful alpine meadow, with sacred water streams such as Surya Kund, Chandra Kund, Tara Kund, and Rudra Ganga flowing nearby. Visitors can enjoy stunning vistas of Nanda Ghunti, Hathi Parvat, Nanda Devi, and Trishul from the temple.
Additionally, CM Dhami extended his wishes for the traditional festival of Jagda, celebrated in the tribal region of Jaunsar-Bawar. He stated, “Warm greetings and best wishes to all residents of the state on the auspicious occasion of Jagda, dedicated to the worship of Mahasu Devta. This festival symbolizes our rich folk culture, faith, and social unity. Jagda conveys the message of preserving our ancient traditions and cultural heritage for future generations. I pray that Mahasu Devta brings happiness, peace, prosperity, and well-being to all.”
