Uttar Pradesh Mandates Biometric Attendance in Madrasas, Religious Leaders Applaud the Move

Lucknow, June 16: The Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Council has made it mandatory for all recognized madrasas in the state to implement an Aadhaar-based biometric attendance system for teachers, non-teaching staff, and students. The council has issued necessary directives to all district minority welfare officers regarding this new requirement.

With the implementation of this system, daily attendance for teachers, staff, and students will be recorded through biometric machines.

This decision has received positive feedback from various religious and social organizations. Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahli, Chairman of the Islamic Center of India in Lucknow, welcomed the decision, calling it a necessary and positive step.

He stated that the biometric attendance system will ensure regular attendance of teachers. This will lead to timely classes and enhance discipline within the educational framework. He emphasized that the regular presence of teachers is crucial for ensuring quality education in madrasas.

Similarly, Maulana Qari Abrar Jamal, President of Jamiat Himayatul Islam, also welcomed the decision. He mentioned that if the government aims for madrasas to play an active role in nation-building beyond just religious education, this initiative is commendable. He noted that efforts are being made to strengthen national consciousness in the country, and educational institutions play a vital role in this.

Maulana Abrar Jamal also referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Muslim children holding a laptop in one hand and the Quran in the other. He stressed the need to advance this idea, advocating for the promotion of patriotism in madrasas and raising awareness among students about their national responsibilities.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar stated that the decision to implement the Aadhaar-based biometric attendance system was made in response to ongoing complaints regarding madrasas. He confirmed that necessary orders have been issued by the department concerning this matter.
