Uttar Pradesh Police Arrests Suspect Over Offensive Comments Against Dr. Ambedkar

Sultanpur, June 16: In a significant move, police in Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested an individual for making offensive remarks against Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and a specific community. The arrest follows a viral video that sparked outrage on social media.

The incident took place in Golan Para village, located within the jurisdiction of the Dostpur police station. On June 14, a controversial video surfaced online, featuring derogatory comments about Dr. Ambedkar.

The video’s circulation led to widespread anger in the area. Recognizing the sensitivity of the situation, law enforcement acted swiftly, apprehending the main suspect, Vinod Kumar Verma.

Vinay Kumar Gautam, the Circle Officer (CO) of Kadiyapur, stated that strict legal action has been initiated against those attempting to disturb the peace. Charges have been filed under relevant sections of the law, including the SC/ST Act, and the suspect has been presented before a magistrate. Further legal proceedings are underway, and police are closely monitoring social media activities.

The CO confirmed that the offensive video was shared on June 14 in Golan Para village, and the suspect has been arrested with legal actions in progress.

Additionally, it is noteworthy that on June 13, a case was filed against writer and rationalist K.S. Bhagwan in Davanagere, Karnataka, for alleged comments against Hinduism, Lord Ram, and Hindu scriptures. The FIR was registered by the Harihar rural police following a complaint from a local resident, Dinesh, on June 12. The complaint alleged that Bhagwan made derogatory and inflammatory statements during an event organized by the Karnataka Dalit Struggle Committee to commemorate B. Krishnappa Jayanti and Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti.
