Uttar Pradesh High School Exam Achieves 98.53% Success Rate for Incarcerated Students

Lucknow, April 23: The traditional image of prisons is shifting as they are now recognized as effective centers for education and rehabilitation. The impressive results of incarcerated students in the 2026 board examinations serve as clear evidence of this transformation.

In the high school examination, 67 out of 68 incarcerated candidates passed, resulting in a remarkable success rate of 98.53%. Meanwhile, in the intermediate exams, 114 out of 135 candidates succeeded, achieving an 84.44% pass rate. This accomplishment highlights the effectiveness of the Yogi government’s initiatives to integrate education as part of the rehabilitation process, successfully connecting inmates to the mainstream.

In the high school examination, all incarcerated candidates from 23 districts in the state achieved a 100% pass rate. These districts include Agra, Firozabad, Mathura, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bijnor, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Hardoi, Lucknow, Unnao, Raebareli, Fatehpur, Etawah, Ayodhya, and Jaunpur.

Similarly, in the intermediate exams, all candidates from 14 districts, including Mainpuri, Mathura, Aligarh, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Rampur, Unnao, Kanpur Nagar, Fatehpur, Etawah, Hamirpur, Jaunpur, and Bhadohi, passed, demonstrating the success of the effective implementation of education in prisons and the rehabilitation efforts.

The government has transformed prisons from mere punishment sites into organized centers for reform, education, and rehabilitation. A well-planned strategy has been put in place to connect inmates with education, encourage their participation in board examinations, and motivate them to perform better. This model is bringing about positive changes in the personal lives of inmates and laying a solid foundation for their reintegration into society.
