Music Teacher Candidates Protest for Increased Vacancies Outside Education Ministers Residence

Patna, August 28: Candidates for music teacher positions, demanding an increase in vacancies for the Bihar Public Service Commission Teacher Recruitment Examination 4.0 (BPSC TRE-4), gathered on Thursday outside the residence of the state’s Education Minister, Mithilesh Tiwari, to stage a protest.

During the demonstration, the candidates sang patriotic songs, including “Dil Diya Hai Jaan Bhi Denge, Ae Watan Tere Liye,” while calling for more teaching positions.

Following the protest, Minister Tiwari met with the candidates and assured them that the Bihar government is committed to addressing their concerns. He mentioned that requests for additional vacancies could be made until the exam date is announced, potentially increasing the total number of positions available.

Tiwari urged the candidates not to worry about their future and to focus on preparing for the exam. He emphasized that the state government is working to ensure quality education in Bihar by appointing qualified teachers, prioritizing the welfare of students and youth.

The minister also highlighted the government’s readiness to engage in dialogue with the protesting candidates and work towards resolving their concerns. He assured them that favorable decisions regarding the vacancies would be made. Meanwhile, security was heightened outside the minister’s residence due to the large number of candidates arriving early in the morning.

This incident occurred amidst the ongoing TRE-4 student movement in Patna’s Gardanibagh area, where protesters are demanding several changes in the recruitment process, including a single-stage exam, the removal of negative marking, an effective residency policy, and an increase in the number of vacancies.

As protests continue in Patna, authorities have increased security around key government locations. It is noteworthy that on May 24, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari announced the addition of 886 new posts to the BPSC TRE-4 recruitment campaign.

As a result, the total number of vacant teaching positions to be filled has now reached 33,274. He also stated that all future BPSC examinations will be conducted in two stages.
