Uttar Pradesh Enhances Cow Shelter Surveillance with High-Tech CCTV System

Lucknow, March 26: In a significant move to integrate technology with cattle protection, Uttar Pradesh has implemented a high-tech surveillance system across its cow shelters. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a total of 5,446 cow shelters have been equipped with 7,592 CCTV cameras for round-the-clock monitoring.

This initiative aims to enhance transparency and ensure better care and safety for the cattle. The 24/7 surveillance allows for constant oversight of the animals’ feeding, health, cleanliness, and security, enabling immediate action in case of any negligence. This system also strengthens administrative accountability.

Many stray cattle are housed in these shelters, and their care is a government priority. The CCTV monitoring ensures that the animals receive timely feed, clean water, and necessary medical attention.

According to Mukesh Meshram, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department, this digital monitoring system not only promotes administrative transparency but also builds public trust. Additionally, it proves effective in making quick decisions during emergencies. Currently, command and control rooms are operational in 56 districts, monitoring the CCTV feeds, while control rooms funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will soon be established in the remaining 19 districts. This will create a unified and robust monitoring framework across the state.

The government has directed all districts to ensure regular monitoring of the CCTV cameras and to promptly address any malfunctions. Officials have also been instructed to periodically inspect the shelters to further improve the facilities.
