Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Announces Name Change for Fazilnagar to Pavagadh

Mumbai, June 2: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the renaming of Fazilnagar to Pavagadh during an event in Kushinagar. He emphasized the area’s historical and religious significance, stating that the new name would honor the legacy of Lord Mahavir.

In his address, the Chief Minister criticized previous governments for allegedly protecting mafias and highlighted his administration’s achievements in law enforcement, development, and public welfare initiatives.

He stated, “We have proposed to change the name of Fazilnagar to Pavagadh. This area will now be recognized for its connection to Lord Mahavir. Why should we continue to call it Fazil?” He urged citizens to take pride in their heritage.

Adityanath pointed out that previously, exploitation was rampant, and mafias were shielded, leading to widespread disease and violence during festivals. He noted that under the current ‘double-engine’ government, 90,000 individuals in Kushinagar have received housing, and millions have been provided with toilets. The government is also offering free healthcare and ration services.

He compared the eradication of encephalitis to the decline of mafia influence in the state, stating, “We have eliminated both mafias and mosquitoes. Mosquitoes spread disease, while mafias increase unemployment.”

The Chief Minister encouraged voters to elect capable representatives who focus on development, security, and controlling crime. He also mentioned efforts to ensure water reaches farmers’ fields and that they receive fair prices for their produce.

Adityanath reflected on the historical significance of Ayodhya, recalling how a foreign invader destroyed the sacred site over 498 years ago. He asserted that the construction of the Ram Temple gained momentum only after the formation of the BJP government with a ‘double-engine’ approach.
