Lucknow, May 31: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has set a significant example of women’s empowerment in administrative roles. The presence of women officers is now strongly felt in the state’s revenue administration.
The government has appointed senior IAS officer Archana Agarwal as the Chairperson of the Revenue Council of Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, IAS Aparna U continues to serve as the Principal Secretary of Revenue. IAS Kanchan Verma holds the responsibilities of Secretary and Commissioner within the Revenue Council.
Archana Agarwal, a 1990 batch IAS officer, currently serves as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Transport Department and the Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). She has now been entrusted with the crucial role of leading the Revenue Council of Uttar Pradesh.
Due to her extensive experience in administration and leadership roles across various departments, she has been appointed to head one of the state’s most important institutions, the Revenue Council. The administrative and policy responsibilities of the Revenue Department are already managed by IAS Aparna U, who was appointed as Principal Secretary of Revenue earlier this year.
The Revenue Department is the primary authority in the state for land, revenue administration, land records, acquisitions, and related policy matters. Additionally, IAS Kanchan Verma, from the 2005 batch, serves as the Commissioner and Secretary in the Revenue Council of Uttar Pradesh. She plays a vital role in the administrative operations and resolution of various significant issues within the council.
This important decision reflects the Yogi government’s commitment to assigning significant administrative responsibilities to women. The state government has a history of appointing women officers to key roles across various departments, commissions, corporations, and administrative units. The strong presence of women in the top structure of revenue administration is expected to enhance good governance, administrative efficiency, and women’s empowerment.
