Mumbai, June 3: The struggle of young artists to carve out a niche in the entertainment industry is well-known. A new micro-drama series titled ‘Baby Doll‘ is set to highlight this reality.
Writer and renowned producer Amit Khan shared that the series portrays the lives of women who, due to financial hardships, choose to enter relationships with significantly older influential men.
In an exclusive interview, he emphasized that the story is not a work of fiction but rather a harsh truth inspired by today’s society, especially in metropolitan areas like Mumbai.
“Every year, numerous young women arrive in Mumbai with dreams of becoming actresses. However, they soon face the harsh realities of life and severe financial constraints. The concept of ‘sugar daddies’ is becoming increasingly common in today’s glamorous world,” he explained.
The narrative revolves around a young girl named ‘Baby Doll,’ who comes to Mumbai with hopes of making a name for herself in the entertainment industry. However, due to financial struggles and her ambitions, she finds herself involved with much older men. The series explores her journey and the decisions she makes along the way.
Amit considers himself fortunate to have received excellent opportunities as a writer. “I don’t know how many writers get the chances I have had. As a novelist, I have published over 100 novels, with ‘Commander Karan Saxena’ being one of my most famous works,” he stated.
He also mentioned his popular book ‘Rita Sanyal,’ which was adapted into a web series on Disney+ Hotstar, featuring actress Ada Sharma in the lead role. Additionally, his book inspired the hit series ‘Bichchu Ka Khel,’ starring Divyendu Sharma, which also gained significant popularity on OTT platforms.
Reflecting on his early days in Mumbai, Amit recalled signing a project with ‘Devgan Films’ shortly after his arrival. Although that film never materialized for various reasons, it led to connections with many influential figures. He later worked on the film ‘Karz: The Burden of Truth,’ featuring stars like Suniel Shetty, Sunny Deol, and Shilpa Shetty, marking the true beginning of his journey in screenplay and dialogue writing.
