Mumbai, September 2: Singer and composer Papon has released his latest song, ‘Apni Uljhan.’ This track explores themes of love, separation, and the quest for self-understanding after a relationship ends. The song captures the emotions experienced during the phase when a person tries to move on but remains affected by the past. Often, the changes within a person can appear as a transformation to those who have known them before.
The lyrics of ‘Apni Uljhan’ were penned by Vaibhav Modi. The song tells the story of an individual gradually emerging from emotional turmoil while striving to find balance within themselves. Notably, it reflects both the effort to move forward and the lingering memories of the relationship.
Speaking about the song, Papon expressed, “I feel deeply connected to the emotions hidden in the lyrics of ‘Apni Uljhan.’ This song represents that phase in life when a person attempts to break free from their own entanglements and learns to manage themselves. It is one of my favorite tracks from my album ‘Sar-e-Sham.'”
He further added, “The melody incorporates traditional elements, and the music is kept quite simple. Sometimes, a person’s journey to regain composure and heal can seem like a change to those who have known them for a long time. ‘Apni Uljhan’ honestly conveys this sentiment.”
The narrative of the song evokes the time when someone wishes to leave behind an old relationship and move forward in life. On one hand, they are emotionally tied to the past, while on the other, they are trying to rediscover themselves and manage their lives anew. The song beautifully portrays feelings of loneliness, vulnerability, self-discovery, and gradual strength.
Papon has long established a unique identity in the Indian music scene. He made his debut in 1998 with the Assamese song ‘Nasaba Sokule,’ part of his album ‘Snigdha Junak.’ His first album, ‘Junaki Rati,’ was released in 2004.
In Bollywood, Papon entered the industry in 2006 with the song ‘Om Mantra’ from the film ‘Strings – Bound by Faith.’ However, he gained significant recognition in 2011 with the song ‘Jiyein Kyon’ from the film ‘Dum Maaro Dum.’ Since then, he has lent his voice to numerous memorable tracks. In 2014, he sang Gulzar’s poem ‘Lakeeren’ for the film ‘Kya Delhi Kya Lahore’ and also contributed to the film ‘Lakshmi’ with the song ‘Sun Ri Bawli.’
His rendition of ‘Moh Moh Ke Dhaage’ from the film ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ in 2015 was widely appreciated. Following that, he sang ‘Hamnaawa’ for ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ and ‘Bulleya’ for Salman Khan’s film ‘Sultan.’
