Jaipur, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : A significant number of unmarried individuals have gathered at the Motidungri Ganesh Temple in Jaipur for the Sindhara ritual, which takes place before Ganesh Chaturthi. This traditional ceremony, known as Sindhara or Sinjara, involves offering new clothes and henna to the deity during significant life events such as births and weddings.
Priest Abhishek Sharma shared that the Sindhara ritual will commence at 6:30 PM. Today, the deity will be adorned with new attire and a crown, followed by the distribution of henna as prasad. After being offered to the deity, the henna is given to devotees.
According to Sharma, it is believed that the henna brings blessings to those who come with specific wishes. The practice is closely associated with marriage, making it particularly appealing to those seeking to wed or those who have been waiting for a long time. It is said that applying this henna can lead to marriage within a year. The henna is the main offering today, and efforts are being made to distribute as much as possible.
The temple has received 3,500 kilos of henna, and a steady stream of visitors is evident. Distribution will occur at eight different locations within the temple complex, aiming to reach as many people as possible.
Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 14, with preparations underway nationwide. The auspicious time for establishing the Ganesh idol is from 11:02 AM to 1:31 PM. This festival marks the beginning of Ganesh Utsav, culminating on Anant Chaturdashi. Worship of Lord Ganesh is performed to seek happiness, peace, prosperity, and relief from life’s challenges.
