Uttar Pradesh Minister Takes Action Against Underage Alcohol Sale in Lucknow

Lucknow, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : In a swift response to a viral video showing a salesman allegedly selling alcohol to a minor, Uttar Pradesh‘s Excise Minister Nitin Agarwal took decisive action. The incident, which occurred at a composite liquor store in the Vikas Nagar area of Lucknow, prompted an immediate investigation following the video’s circulation on social media platforms on September 11.

The investigation revealed inappropriate conduct by the salesman, leading to his prompt removal from the store. Additionally, the composite shop was fined ₹30,000 for violating excise regulations. Minister Agarwal emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated and warned officials that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in similar incidents in the future.

He reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards the sale of alcohol to minors, stating that these actions undermine the state’s excise policy and damage the government’s reputation. Agarwal highlighted that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath‘s leadership, there have been no reported cases of illegal or toxic alcohol sales over the past four and a half years.

The minister commended the excise department for its transparency and effectiveness, noting that it has become a model for other states in India. He instructed officials to maintain vigilant monitoring of liquor stores and ensure immediate action against any violations to prevent future incidents of underage alcohol sales.
