Farmers to Hold Major Protest in Noida Demanding Resolution of Long-Standing Issues

Noida, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Farmers from Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Development Authority region are set to stage a significant protest on Monday, led by farmer leader Rakesh Tikait. The demonstration aims to address various long-standing demands that have yet to be resolved by local authorities.

During a visit to the Greater Noida Authority, Tikait observed a large gathering of farmers voicing their concerns. They expressed frustration over the lack of action on their demands, despite repeated assurances from officials. Tikait emphasized that farmers are no longer willing to sit idly by and rely solely on promises.

He stated that this time, the farmers will firmly present their grievances to all three authorities. Key issues to be raised during the upcoming farmer’s assembly include population settlement, allocation of 10 percent plots, shifting issues, and lease-back problems. Farmers argue that many matters related to land acquisition and rehabilitation remain unresolved since the initial acquisitions.

Despite numerous meetings and assurances from officials, farmers claim that permanent solutions have not been implemented. Therefore, they are preparing to raise their voices more forcefully through the upcoming protest. Tikait reiterated that the movement for their rightful demands will continue.

He clarified that their efforts will not be limited to the Greater Noida Authority but will also include demands presented to the Noida Authority and the Yamuna Authority. Tikait noted that the issues faced by farmers across these regions are largely similar, necessitating a united front.

In response to questions about the National Lok Dal contesting elections in all 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, Tikait stated that the party can choose to contest as many seats as it wishes. He also criticized the government regarding the upcoming 2027 assembly elections, alleging that unfair practices could be employed, including the misuse of police and enforcement agencies.

As preparations for the farmer’s assembly continue, local authorities are increasing security and traffic management measures in anticipation of the protest. Farmers have made it clear that they will persist in raising their demands until they are addressed.
