Jorhat, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Political activity is intensifying in Jorhat as the Naogaon Lok Sabha by-election approaches. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has characterized this election as a crucial test of public courage against the fear-driven politics of the BJP.
Speaking on Monday, Gogoi stated, “The main contest will be between the BJP and Congress. This election will determine whether the BJP’s fear tactics prevail or if the courage of the people stands strong against it. We firmly believe that the atmosphere of fear created by the BJP will be dismantled by the people of Naogaon. Citizens today demand their rights from the government and reject this politics of intimidation.”
Regarding the announcement of Congress’s candidate, Gogoi expressed, “I think our official candidates should be declared soon.”
The Naogaon Lok Sabha seat became vacant following the resignation of Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi. The BJP has already named Debashish Sharma as its candidate for the by-election. Officially, Sharma’s candidacy has been confirmed. Voting in Naogaon is scheduled for October 6, with the counting of votes set for October 9.
While Congress has yet to formally announce its candidate for this seat, Gogoi’s remarks indicate that the party views this election as an opportunity to send a strong political message against the BJP. He asserted that the people of Naogaon will no longer accept fear-based politics and will vote assertively for their rights.
