The term ‘Yoni’ is derived from Sanskrit, meaning ‘womb’ or ‘the source of creation,’ while ‘Mudra’ refers to a specific hand position. The Ministry of AYUSH has identified Yoni Mudra as a tool for mental tranquility. According to them, practicing this mudra alleviates stress and brings peace of mind. When individuals focus on their breath, thoughts, and bodily energy, their stress gradually diminishes, leading to a sense of calm.

Yoni Mudra is associated with the Swadhisthana chakra, located just below the navel, slightly above the Muladhara chakra, which is near the base of the spine. The Swadhisthana chakra is linked to our creativity, emotions, and joy, providing the energy needed to move forward in life and explore new avenues.
While practicing this mudra, a specific shape is formed with the fingers. This action concentrates the body’s energy in the lower abdomen, activating the Swadhisthana chakra and alleviating both physical and mental fatigue.
When we perform Yoni Mudra, the hands assume a unique position that helps center the body’s energy in the abdominal area. This facilitates balancing, healing, and awakening that energy.
