New Delhi, March 14: In today’s fast-paced world, everyone desires a healthy and fit body. However, busy schedules often make this challenging. Trikonasana, or the Triangle Pose, is a yoga practice that can be performed in a short time, offering numerous benefits.

Regular practice of this asana enhances muscle flexibility and improves blood circulation. Daily stretching to both sides activates the muscles in the back, arms, and legs.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Trikonasana helps make the body flexible, balanced, and strong. It also aids digestion and strengthens the muscles of the waist and thighs.

To perform Trikonasana, spread both feet 3 to 4 feet apart on a yoga mat. Turn the right foot outward at a 90-degree angle and slightly angle the left foot inward. Extend both arms parallel to the ground with palms facing down. Gradually lean to the right, trying to touch your right foot or ankle with your right hand while keeping the left arm straight up. Hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds, maintaining normal breathing. Then, gently return to Tadasana and repeat the process on the left side.

During this pose, the arms, legs, and spine form a triangle, which helps reduce stress. However, caution is advised for individuals with conditions like slipped discs or sciatica.

Regular practice of Trikonasana aids in weight management and reduces stress and anxiety. It also enhances balance and concentration. While it boosts energy levels, practitioners should also take necessary precautions during the exercise.
