Unique Lord Jagannath Chariot Made from Cold Drink Can Unveiled by Renowned Artist

Berhampur, July 17: In a remarkable display of creativity, renowned sand artist Satya Narayan Maharana from Odisha has unveiled a unique representation of Lord Jagannath‘s Nandighosh chariot, crafted from a simple cold drink can. This stunning artwork, showcased during this year’s Rath Yatra, has captivated audiences with its intricate craftsmanship and resemblance to the actual chariot.

The miniature Nandighosh chariot stands at approximately five and a half inches tall and four and a half inches wide. It features 16 wheels, four horses, two inverted suas, a charioteer, and a finely detailed idol of Lord Jagannath himself, all meticulously carved. The creation of this exquisite piece took Maharana around 25 hours.

Maharana shared that he began crafting miniature chariots of Lord Jagannath in 2013. He gained international recognition in 2020 for creating the world’s smallest Jagannath chariot, earning accolades in several prestigious record books, including the Exclusive World Record, India Book of Records, and Asia Book of Records. Since then, he has committed to presenting something new and different each year.

To date, he has constructed miniature chariots using bamboo, bottles, ice cream sticks, old newspapers, and other recyclable materials. This year marks the first time he has utilized a cold drink can for the Nandighosh chariot.

Since 2000, Maharana has consistently experimented in the field of creating the world’s smallest chariots. His art is not only a symbol of religious devotion but also an excellent example of Indian craftsmanship and innovation. His special presentation during the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra has become a focal point for devotees and art enthusiasts alike.
