Azamgarh, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Keshav Prasad Maurya, the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, announced that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented in states where the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is in power. This statement comes in the wake of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on the UCC, which have drawn criticism from opposition parties.
Speaking to reporters in Azamgarh, Maurya emphasized that the UCC is a core ideological issue for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He reiterated that the implementation will occur in states governed by the BJP and NDA. In regions where the party currently does not hold power, Maurya assured that the UCC would be enacted once they form a government.
Responding to comments from Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav regarding the UCC, Maurya stated that Yadav seems unaware that these issues have been part of the BJP’s agenda since the inception of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
Maurya also touched upon the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections, expressing confidence in the party’s prospects. He noted that many party workers are rallying support, and he believes that the BJP will achieve significant victories in the 2027 elections. He stated that a strong performance in Azamgarh could lead the BJP to surpass 300 seats and secure a third consecutive term.
Addressing concerns regarding law and order raised by Yadav, Maurya remarked that the people of Azamgarh are well aware of the governance issues associated with Yadav and his family. He criticized the previous government for fostering an environment of lawlessness and protecting criminals, asserting that the public would find Yadav’s questions laughable.
In a lighter note, Maurya encouraged citizens to light lamps in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17. He urged everyone to light a ‘lamp of blessings’ at 7 PM to wish the Prime Minister a long and prosperous life, highlighting Modi’s 25 years of service and governance.
