Mumbai, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s straightforward nature while reaffirming his previous announcement that West Bengal will celebrate ‘Annapurna Day’ on the Prime Minister’s birthday, September 17.
In a statement, Chakraborty conveyed birthday wishes to Modi, emphasizing that people will always remember the Prime Minister’s 25 years of service. He expressed his belief that few will have the opportunity to serve the nation as Modi has.
Chakraborty remarked that the state is celebrating this day as ‘Annapurna Day’ to express gratitude, particularly to the mothers and sisters who benefit from the program. “Happy birthday. May you continue to progress and may your life be long; I pray for this,” he added.
Referring to Modi as ‘Sir,’ Chakraborty reminisced about their first meeting after he joined the party, stating that he has been a fan of the Prime Minister from the beginning. When asked about changes he has observed, Chakraborty noted that Modi has remained consistent since their first encounter. He appreciates Modi’s directness and clarity, recalling how the Prime Minister has communicated expectations clearly.
On the same day, PM Modi addressed women in the state through a social media post, highlighting the Annapurna scheme’s role in empowering them. It was announced in Bidhannagar, West Bengal, that ‘Annapurna Day’ will be celebrated every year on September 17, coinciding with the launch of a monthly assistance plan of ₹3,000 for women.
