Jammu, June 15: Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, S.P. Vaid, expressed on Monday that former U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement regarding the cessation of war with Iran is a positive development. He believes that if this proposal is finalized in Switzerland, it could contribute to global stability.
Vaid noted that the world is currently facing numerous economic challenges. He highlighted the rising fuel prices due to tensions in various regions, which have increased inflation pressures worldwide. He also mentioned that the rising costs of fertilizers, food items, and other essentials have impacted all nations, although the Indian government has made efforts to minimize the effect on the general public.
He further stated that while the situation in India remains relatively stable, the country has been indirectly affected by the global economy. Vaid emphasized that any peace initiative should be welcomed globally, as it would not only bring economic stability but also promote international trade and development.
Regarding India-U.S. relations, he mentioned that the upcoming G7 summit, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump are expected to meet, could be significant for both countries. He described it as a good opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties. However, he also urged that India should clearly raise some critical issues related to its national interests during this meeting.
According to him, there has been some discontent in India regarding certain U.S. policies and statements in recent years, particularly concerning the U.S. stance on issues related to Pakistan.
S.P. Vaid concluded that India should adopt a strong diplomatic stance, and the Prime Minister should engage in clear discussions on topics vital for both India and global peace.
