Washington/Kyiv, September 4 (Kiran News): US President Donald Trump, in a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders on Thursday morning, urged Europe to immediately halt purchases of Russian oil and to increase economic pressure on China. A White House official confirmed details of the conversation.

The call was part of the “Coalition of the Willing” initiative and included French President Emmanuel Macron along with several other European leaders. According to officials, Trump was added to the discussion midway, where he stressed that Russia is funding its war through oil revenues from Europe, which have reached €1.1 billion in the past year alone.
Trump further insisted that China must face stronger economic pressure, accusing Beijing of indirectly supporting Moscow. He warned that if Russian President Vladimir Putin fails to take meaningful steps toward peace, the US and its allies will be compelled to take “tougher measures.”
Echoing Trump’s stance, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said the US President has suggested joint efforts by America and Europe to impose new sanctions on Russia, with a particular focus on the oil and gas sector. Stubb told Finnish media that Trump’s emphasis was on weakening Russia’s “war machine” economically through coordinated action.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Trump’s close advisors are expected to hold further discussions on the proposed measures within the next 24 hours.
