Washington, June 24: U.S. President Donald Trump recently addressed supporters at the Mack Trucks manufacturing unit in Macungie, Pennsylvania. He emphasized promises of investment, stock market gains, and the expansion of manufacturing. Trump claimed that over the past year, there has been a commitment of $19.1 trillion in investments in the United States.
He asserted that his administration’s economic policies have made America the most attractive destination for global capital. Trump pointed to this as evidence of significant economic recovery since returning to power.
Speaking to employees and supporters at the plant, Trump remarked, “Not long ago, we were like a dead country. We were the laughing stock of the world.” He noted that foreign governments and investors who once doubted America are now investing heavily in its economy.
Trump recounted a conversation with the King of Saudi Arabia during a visit two years ago. The King remarked, “Sir, you know, two years ago you were a dead country, and now you have become the most attractive country in the world.”
According to Trump, there have been investment commitments from several countries in the Middle East and beyond. He stated, “They have announced that they are investing $2 trillion in our country in collaboration with Qatar and the UAE; Bahrain and Kuwait are also investing, and countries worldwide are investing in America.”
He compared these commitments to the investments made during the previous administration, claiming that during the “dishonest” Biden administration, there was less than $1 trillion in new investments over four years. In contrast, Trump highlighted that in less than a year, $19.1 trillion in investments have been secured. “Can you believe it? Investment has come from all over the world,” he said.
Trump also referenced the performance of the stock market, stating that investors have responded positively to his economic agenda. He noted, “Since the election, the stock market has recorded 73 all-time highs.” He claimed that the market gains have benefited retirement savings.
He added, “As you know, the average ‘401(k)’ plan has increased by nearly $30,000, which is about a 44% jump.” Trump linked the surge in investments to his tariff policies, stating that these policies have encouraged companies to produce goods domestically rather than importing them.
He remarked, “That’s why all these factories are being built. They are already opening up.” The President mentioned several projects in Pennsylvania, including Eli Lilly’s $3.5 billion manufacturing unit, Nokia’s expansion, and B. Braun’s investment in medical devices.
Trump concluded by stating that more Americans are working today than at any time in the nation’s history. He pointed to trade figures that he believes indicate growing economic strength, stating, “The rest of the world has seen a $150 billion increase in U.S. exports.”
