Washington, August 8: President Donald Trump has expressed his objections to a recent appellate court ruling regarding the construction of a ballroom. He stated that following the appellate court’s decision concerning a military and security complex, his administration will promptly appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. The ruling halted the ongoing construction of a military and security facility at the White House.
Trump remarked that two appellate judges voted against this crucial military center, which he believes is necessary for national security in Washington and across the country. In a post on Truth Social, he stated, “The decision has been stayed and will not be enforced for some time. We will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court immediately.”
He referenced Judge Neomi Rao’s dissenting opinion, which argued that the lower court lacked jurisdiction in this case because the plaintiffs did not have the legal right to halt the construction.
According to excerpts shared by Trump, Rao noted, “This was a blatant misuse of understanding. Initially, the district court had no jurisdiction as the trust had no authority to stop construction at the White House.”
Judge Rao emphasized that the balance of interests heavily favored the government. She accused the district court of prioritizing “a pedestrian’s aesthetic displeasure” over the security risks associated with an open construction site at the President’s residence and office.
Rao stated, “The district court has taken it upon itself to oversee construction at the White House, and my colleagues are affirming this judicial overreach. Since this injunction is beyond the proper jurisdiction of federal courts, construction should proceed.”
Trump labeled the ruling as politically motivated and unlawful. He asserted that the military and Secret Service view it as a threat to national security, as this complex is being built for the safety of the country and future presidents.
According to the President, this integrated project includes bomb shelters, a hospital and medical facility, top-secret military installations, protective partitions, and missile-resistant steel.
He further explained that it will feature drone-proof roofs, military-grade ventilation, and glass capable of withstanding bullets, ballistic impacts, and blasts.
“This is all part of a large, expensive, and highly complex unit that is essential for America’s national security and military operations!” Trump emphasized.
He warned that this ruling endangers White House staff, future presidents, and their families. It could also impact visiting heads of state, dignitaries, and the general public.
Trump noted that the secure ballroom is being constructed on time and within budget. He described it as a gift from him and other private supporters, asserting that it will not cost taxpayers anything.
He stated, “The entire complex, military and otherwise, is mostly built, fabricated, and paid for. Much of it is already on-site or being delivered. The Supreme Court should completely overturn this erroneous decision.”
Rao was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit during Trump’s first term. After serving as the Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, she was confirmed by the Senate in 2019.
