Agartala, June 13: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha presented the state’s development roadmap, ‘Vision 2047’, during a meeting of northeastern state chief ministers and chief secretaries organized by NITI Aayog on Friday.

During the meeting, he proposed several key initiatives aimed at enhancing connectivity, healthcare facilities, investment, and infrastructure development in Tripura.

NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Ashok Kumar Lahiri and other members were present at the meeting. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to NITI Aayog, stating that its guidance and support are helping Tripura reach new heights in development.

Manik Saha explained that the ‘Vision 2047’ document outlines a framework for building a ‘progressive and superior’ future. Its goal is to prepare Tripura for the future through better governance, a robust institutional framework, and effective use of available resources.

He highlighted that in recent years, Tripura has made significant strides in administrative reforms, digital transformation, investment promotion, healthcare, education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The state has secured the top position among all states and Jammu & Kashmir in both Phase 1 and Phase 2 for ease of doing business and regulatory simplification.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the roles of institutions such as the Tripura Institution for Transformation, Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority, Investment Promotion Agency of Tripura, and the Good Governance Department.

Discussing future plans, he sought collaboration for improved regional and international connectivity in the northeastern region. He also aims to develop Agartala as an ‘AI City’ and Tripura as a hub for pharmaceuticals and MedTech.

The Chief Minister called for the prompt initiation of the Sabroom-Ramgarh Integrated Check Post and the Agartala-Akhura rail link. Additionally, he proposed direct air services between Agartala and Chittagong, the revival of Kailashahar Airport, expansion of railway infrastructure, and the launch of the Vande Bharat Express between Agartala and Guwahati.

Regarding achievements in the healthcare sector, he noted that improved medical facilities have reduced the need for patient referrals outside the state.

CM Saha reiterated the demand for establishing an AIIMS in Agartala and requested additional financial support for the Ayushman Bharat scheme and the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme.
