Tripura University Emerges as a Hub for Research and Innovation, Says Vice President Radhakrishnan

Agartala, March 8: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan attended the 14th convocation ceremony of Tripura University on the outskirts of Agartala, the capital of Tripura, on Sunday. Prior to the event, he visited the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple for prayers.

While addressing the graduates, the Vice President encouraged them to contribute to the nation’s future and promote their culture. He emphasized that the university has emerged as a vibrant center for teaching, research, and innovation.

Radhakrishnan highlighted that the ‘Mata Bari Tourism Circuit’ will enhance Tripura’s position on the global map for spiritual and eco-friendly tourism. This initiative is expected to create job opportunities and boost the local economy. He noted significant progress in the region over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

The convocation was attended by Tripura’s Governor and Chief Priest of Tripura University, Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Prof. Manik Saha, Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor Prof. Shyamal Das, Registrar Prof. Samir Kumar Sil, and other dignitaries.

An official from Tripura University stated that the convocation could not be held in 2024 and 2025. During the ceremony, eligible students received certificates, degrees, gold medals, and Ph.D. degrees. A total of 283 students from various departments were honored with gold medals, while 149 scholars were awarded Ph.D. degrees.

It is noteworthy that Vice President Radhakrishnan addressed the 20th convocation of Mizoram University on March 7. After speaking at the eighth convocation of Nagaland University in Kohima, he arrived in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, where he was warmly welcomed by Mizoram’s Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.), School Education Minister Vanlalthlana, and other senior officials at Lengpui Airport.
