New Delhi, February 2: Maintaining a balance among the three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—is essential for the smooth functioning of the human body. During winters, the Vata dosha naturally increases, leading to joint pain, digestive issues, and bone-related problems. However, an Ayurvedic remedy called Triphala is known to help balance the Vata dosha effectively.
According to Ayurveda, consuming Triphala along with healthy fats enhances its effectiveness in controlling Vata. For instance, taking half to one teaspoon of Triphala mixed in a glass of lukewarm water with pure desi cow ghee at night can lubricate the intestines and aid in eliminating toxins.
Another recommended method is using ‘Triphala Ghrit,’ an Ayurvedic preparation where ghee is cooked with several herbs. Taking Triphala Ghrit at night can relieve increased Vata and associated digestive problems.
Additionally, mixing a few drops of castor oil with Triphala powder and water can help relieve constipation caused by Vata imbalance by improving intestinal movement. It is advised to consume Triphala about two hours after dinner in winters when Vata tends to rise naturally during the evening and night.
An increase in Vata dosha may cause stiffness, constipation, stress, insomnia, joint pain, restlessness, and body tremors, worsening both mental fatigue and physical discomfort.
