Enhance Blood Circulation and Concentration with Sarvangasana

New Delhi, July 24: Yoga is an ancient and effective method for maintaining balance in our body, mind, and spirit. Among the various yoga poses, Sarvangasana holds special significance. Regular practice of this asana not only improves physical health but also enhances mental peace and concentration.

The term ‘Sarvangasana’ is derived from two words: ‘Sarv,’ meaning all, and ‘Ang,’ meaning body parts. In this pose, the body’s weight is lifted upwards, supported by the shoulders and neck, which improves blood circulation and helps balance various bodily functions.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand Pose) is a complete yoga posture that aids in improving body balance, flexibility, and the functioning of internal organs. It is often referred to as the ‘Queen of Asanas.’ Additionally, this pose activates and balances the Vishuddhi chakra, strengthens the immune system, and provides a sense of calm and stability to the mind.

This asana is believed to help balance the functions of the glands in the cervical region and associated organs. The upward position of the body in Sarvangasana enhances blood circulation, allowing the body’s cells to function more actively.

Regular practice of this pose improves the venous return of blood. During this yoga asana, the entire body weight is balanced on the shoulders and elbows. However, it is essential to learn this pose correctly from the beginning. Practicing under expert supervision reduces the risk of injury. It is advisable to incorporate this asana into your routine, especially for those with neck, back, or high blood pressure issues.

If you suffer from high blood pressure, cervical pain, or hyperthyroidism, it is recommended to avoid this pose.
