Trinamool Congress Accuses Election Commission of Targeting West Bengal Administration

Kolkata, April 8: Trinamool Congress spokesperson Jay Prakash Majumdar has claimed that the central government is directing the Election Commission to target West Bengal and the TMC. He alleged that the Election Commission has taken control of the state administration and police through backdoor methods.

Majumdar commented on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s candidacy, stating, “Mamata didi has already made it clear that she is the true face for all 294 seats. Even if different candidates stand for various seats, for the public, the election means Mamata Banerjee.”

He asserted that Mamata Banerjee is an undisputed candidate from the Bhawanipur seat. Local residents consider her part of their family and view her as a grounded leader. Consequently, he predicts that Banerjee will secure a record number of votes in Bhawanipur.

Majumdar leveled serious accusations against the Election Commission, claiming it is consistently targeting the Trinamool Congress and misrepresenting the law and order situation in West Bengal. He alleges that the Commission has seized control of the state administration and police through backdoor tactics.

He pointed out that several transfers and postings of officials have been conducted in a manner that benefits the BJP. Majumdar claims that the officials assigned new responsibilities are acting at the behest of the BJP. He warned that if any violence or incidents occur in the state, the Election Commission will bear responsibility.

He also criticized the central government and Home Minister Amit Shah, asserting that the BJP’s target is West Bengal, and strategies are being devised accordingly. However, he added that the people of Bengal understand these tactics and will respond in the election results.

Discussing the Women’s Reservation Bill, Majumdar took aim at the central government. He noted that while the BJP is now advocating for women’s reservation, Mamata Banerjee has already implemented 50% reservation for women at the Panchayat and municipal levels in West Bengal. He questioned why it took the central government so long to take such a step.

Majumdar accused the BJP of being anti-women, stating that after 12 years in power, their sudden focus on women’s reservation is merely a part of their electoral strategy.
