New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : On September 11, leaders across India paid tribute to Mahadevi Verma, a celebrated poet of the Chhayavad era, on her death anniversary. Among them was Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who expressed his homage through a post on social media platform X. He described Verma as “an immortal voice of Hindi literature” and a key figure of the Chhayavad movement, noting that her writing enriched Hindi literature with profound emotional depth.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also honored Verma, referring to her as “the modern Meera.” He highlighted her contributions to Hindi literature, stating that her unique poetry and sensitive prose elevated Indian literature to new heights. Sharma emphasized that her ideas on women’s empowerment would continue to guide society for generations.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised Verma for giving a powerful voice to sensitivity, compassion, and women’s consciousness in Hindi literature. He acknowledged that her timeless works have introduced new dimensions of emotion, beauty, and self-experience to Hindi poetry.
Pankaj Chaudhary, the President of the Uttar Pradesh BJP, remarked on Verma’s status as one of the four pillars of the Chhayavad era, recognizing her as the “modern Meera” who enriched Indian literature with her creations.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya paid his respects, highlighting Verma’s advocacy for women’s rights and dignity through her work “Shrinkhala ki Kadiyan.” He noted that her writing has provided new direction for women’s consciousness.
Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha and Chhattisgarh Minister Kedar Kashyap also shared their respects, acknowledging Verma’s significant contributions to Hindi literature.
The outpouring of tributes underscores Verma’s lasting impact on Indian literature and her role as a champion of women’s rights.
