
Ranchi, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Hemant Soren of Jharkhand expressed profound grief following the death of his mother, Rupee Soren. In a heartfelt message, he stated, “After my father’s passing, my mother was my greatest support. Today, that support has also returned to nature.” His words reflect the deep pain he feels from this loss.
Rupee Soren passed away on Wednesday at the Hill View Hospital on Bariyatu Road in Ranchi. She was approximately 80 years old and had been suffering from health issues for some time. Recently, she had been receiving treatment at the hospital.
On the day of her passing, doctors placed her on life support due to her deteriorating condition. Medical professionals, Dr. Deepak Gupta and Dr. Ujjwal Rai, later confirmed her death. This loss has plunged Hemant Soren and his family into deep mourning, marking the second significant personal tragedy for them in a short span.
Just over a year ago, on August 4, 2025, Hemant Soren’s father, Shibu Soren, a prominent leader of the Jharkhand movement, passed away in Delhi. Following her husband’s death, Rupee Soren emerged as the emotional cornerstone of the family.
Rupee Soren married Shibu Soren on January 1, 1962. Throughout their marriage, she stood by him, managing family responsibilities during his lengthy political and social struggles. Shibu Soren was a key figure in the Jharkhand movement and served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha party has hailed Rupee Soren as a symbol of struggle, sacrifice, and patience. They noted that even after her husband’s demise, she remained steadfast in supporting his causes. The party described her passing as an irreplaceable loss for both Jharkhand and the nation, emphasizing the profound sorrow it brings to Hemant Soren, his family, and the entire state.
