Kolkata, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : A gruesome discovery was made in the Entally area of Kolkata on Wednesday when police found the body of a man inside a parked app cab. The victim’s face was covered in blood, and his feet were bound, raising suspicions of foul play.
Local residents became concerned after noticing the cab had been stationary for an extended period. Despite repeated calls to the vehicle, there was no response, prompting them to alert the authorities.
Officers from the Entally police station arrived on the scene and found the cab’s door locked from the inside. A local mechanic was summoned to force the door open, revealing the lifeless body within.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Bhagwan Prasad Gupta, an app cab driver. His body has been sent to the hospital for a postmortem examination while police initiate a thorough investigation.
Authorities from Lalbazar, the Kolkata police headquarters, along with homicide and intelligence department officials, have arrived at the site. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to gather more information.
While police suspect that Gupta may have been murdered, no official conclusions have been drawn yet. Efforts are underway to contact his family, relatives, and close friends. Investigators are also seeking the last known person to have seen Gupta, exploring any potential motives for the crime.
Police sources indicate that they are examining whether Gupta had any enemies, considering all possible angles in this troubling case.
