
Mumbai, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : The South Indian film industry is mourning the loss of acclaimed filmmaker Singitam Srinivasa Rao, who passed away on October 3 at the age of 95. He breathed his last at Kauvery Hospital due to health complications. Following the news of his death, prominent figures such as actor Kamal Haasan, Junior NTR, and filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli took to social media to pay their respects.
S.S. Rajamouli expressed his sorrow, stating, “The news of Singitam Srinivasa Rao’s passing is incredibly sad. He was a filmmaker who worked ahead of his time, creating films like ‘Aditya 369,’ ‘Pushpaka Vimanam,’ and ‘Mayuri.’ His unique vision continues to resonate with today’s generation. My condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.”
Junior NTR also shared his grief, reflecting on Rao’s contributions to cinema. He wrote, “Hearing that Singitam Srinivasa Rao is no more is heartbreaking. He carved a special niche for himself with his distinctive storytelling and innovative style. His departure is a significant loss for cinema. I extend my sympathies to his family.”
Kamal Haasan offered an emotional tribute, highlighting their long-standing professional and personal relationship. He remarked, “Singitam always kept youthfulness and fresh ideas alive in his life. He walked alongside his friends and mentees, holding their hands. I am one of them. Since I met Singitam, I have admired him. I aspire to live my life like he did.”
Singitam Srinivasa Rao was renowned for his unique storytelling in Indian cinema. Over his illustrious career, he directed several memorable films, including ‘Raja Parvai,’ ‘Little John,’ ‘Apoorva Sagodharagal’ starring Kamal Haasan, ‘Michael Madan Kamarajan,’ ‘Kadhal Kadhal,’ ‘Pushpaka Vimanam,’ and ‘Aditya 369.’
