Bollywood Stars Face Backlash Over Controversial Statements on Indias Climate

Mumbai, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Sanjay Dutt has recently found himself at the center of controversy following remarks made during an appearance on Shekhar Suman‘s show, “Shekhar Tonight,” on Gandhi Jayanti. The actor stated, “The people of this country are very dear. There should be peace here, but I no longer feel that peace in our nation. We Indians are big-hearted and hospitable. We have given so much, and we should always remain this way. I pray to Lord Shiva that those days return soon.”

His comments triggered a wave of debate on social media, leading to criticism. In response, Dutt clarified that the conversation was scripted and that he had no intention of hurting anyone’s feelings.

Dutt is not alone in facing backlash for comments about India. Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan have also stirred controversy with their statements.

In 2015, Shah Rukh Khan expressed concerns over rising intolerance in the country during an interview. He remarked, “I feel that intolerance is increasing.” This statement led to significant backlash, with some suggesting he move to Pakistan with his family. Later, he clarified that his words were misinterpreted, asserting, “I never said that India is an intolerant country. My statement was taken out of context, causing me much distress.”

Aamir Khan also faced scrutiny in 2015 during the Ramnath Goenka Awards. He voiced his worries about the atmosphere in the country, saying, “As a citizen, I am worried about what I see in the newspapers. My wife Kiran has even asked, ‘Should we leave India?’ She fears for our children’s future.” Despite the uproar, Aamir reassured the public that he and Kiran had no plans to leave, stating, “India is my country, and I love it. I consider myself fortunate to be born here.”

Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has also been outspoken about his views on the government and the state of the nation. Recently, he shared a video in support of students protesting at Jantar Mantar, stating, “If an ignorant person leads this country, they will want the entire nation to be just as ignorant, foolish, incompetent, and ruthless.” He expressed solidarity with the students, emphasizing that he has learned a great deal from them. His video sparked various reactions across social media platforms.

These statements by prominent Bollywood figures have sparked discussions on social media, reflecting the complex relationship between celebrities and their role in addressing societal issues.
