
Mumbai, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Actress and classical dancer Sudha Chandran has fondly remembered the late filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, referring to him as her “first guru” in the film industry. In a heartfelt social media tribute, she expressed her gratitude for his guidance, particularly highlighting their collaboration on the film “Mayuri,” which marked her debut in Telugu cinema.
Chandran reflected on the profound influence Singeetam had on her early career, stating, “Whenever I receive praise for my acting and technical work, I owe it all to you, sir.” She described herself as “wet clay,” shaped beautifully by Singeetam’s vision and mentorship. His passing has left her feeling deeply saddened, as she remembered him as a kind-hearted person who always wore a smile.
Singeetam Srinivasa Rao passed away at the age of 95. Renowned for his unique storytelling style, he directed films in multiple Indian languages, including Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. His notable works include “Raja Parvai,” “Apoorva Sahodarargal,” “Michael Madana Kama Rajan,” “Kadhal Kadhal,” and “Little John.”
Following his death, many artists and filmmakers from the industry paid their respects. Stars like Vijay Deverakonda, Kamal Haasan, S.S. Rajamouli, Vishnu Manchu, Ravi Teja, Nani, and Junior NTR all remembered Singeetam and celebrated his contributions to Indian cinema.
S.S. Rajamouli shared his sorrow over Singeetam’s passing, stating, “It is very sad to hear about Singeetam Srinivasa Rao’s demise. He was a filmmaker who worked with a vision ahead of his time, creating films like ‘Aditya 369,’ ‘Pushpaka Vimanam,’ and ‘Mayuri.’ His perspective continues to resonate with new generations. My condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.”
Junior NTR also expressed his grief, noting the significant impact Singeetam had on cinema. He remarked, “The news of Singeetam Srinivasa Rao’s passing is heartbreaking. He carved a special place in the hearts of audiences with his unique storytelling and style. His departure is a great loss to cinema, and I extend my sympathies to his family.”
Kamal Haasan delivered an emotional tribute, reflecting on their long-standing professional and personal relationship. He wrote, “Singeetam always kept youthfulness and fresh thinking alive in his life. He walked alongside his friends and disciples, holding their hands; I am one of them. I have admired him since the day I met him, and I aspire to live my life like he did.”
