Mumbai, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently shared insights about his television journey, particularly highlighting the significant impact of the show ‘Dus Ka Dum’ on his career. During an episode of ‘Bigg Boss 20,’ he drew a parallel between his experience and that of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, noting how ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ revitalized Bachchan’s image in the public eye. Similarly, ‘Dus Ka Dum’ introduced audiences to a different side of Salman Khan.
He explained that the show came at a time when both his personal life and career were facing challenges. “When I was offered ‘Dus Ka Dum,’ I was going through a tough phase. There was a lot of negativity surrounding me, and I faced considerable criticism from the media. Initially, I was reluctant to take on the show,” Salman revealed.
It was his father, Salim Khan, who encouraged him to participate. “I discussed it with my father, and he advised me to go ahead with the show. Following his guidance, I hosted ‘Dus Ka Dum,’ which gradually helped reshape my identity among viewers,” he added.
Salman further compared his journey to that of Amitabh Bachchan, stating, “Mr. Bachchan’s experience was similar. After hosting ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati,’ he became known as ‘KBC Uncle’ among the audience.” He noted that after ‘Dus Ka Dum,’ people began to remember him for the show rather than just his films.
Having hosted two seasons of ‘Dus Ka Dum’ and continuing with ‘Bigg Boss,’ Salman has now been the face of the reality show for 17 seasons. “My public image changed significantly after just one episode. Although life has had its ups and downs, it’s essential to show people who you truly are,” he remarked.
Reflecting on the pivotal moment, Salman concluded, “Had I not listened to my father’s advice, ‘Dus Ka Dum’ might not have become a part of my life. At that time, I was facing intense scrutiny, with every newspaper and TV channel targeting me. Seeking my father’s counsel proved to be a wise decision, and the show played a crucial role in transforming my public image.”
