Hyderabad, July 30: A local court has placed trainee IPS officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy in judicial custody for 14 days in connection with an alleged sexual harassment case. Reddy was arrested on Tuesday and presented before the Uppalapally Court in Telangana, which ordered his custody until August 11. He has since been transferred to Chanchalguda Central Jail.
The arrest was made by the Attapur police following a complaint from a female batchmate at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Academy. The complaint, filed on July 18, detailed multiple allegations against Reddy, including repeated sexual harassment, sending lewd WhatsApp messages, stalking, wrongful confinement, physical assault, criminal intimidation, and secretly recording private videos.
It is alleged that the recorded video was sent to the complainant’s husband as a form of blackmail. The police have registered a case against Reddy under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act.
Reddy has taken to social media to assert that the allegations are false and expressed confidence in the legal process. He was hospitalized after being found unconscious at a relative’s home in Moti Nagar on July 21, leading to rumors of a suicide attempt. However, police investigations suggested that this was an act to gain sympathy.
In a handwritten note purportedly left by Reddy, he claimed that he and the female trainee officer had been in a relationship for a year. He named four individuals, including the woman and her husband, holding them responsible for his decision to end his life. Reddy asserted that they had been in a relationship since June 2025 and maintained emotional and physical ties even after her marriage. He denied the allegations of coercion and pressure, claiming to possess evidence in the form of photos and videos that demonstrate their relationship was consensual.
