Jaipur Municipal Corporation Elections: 11 Candidates File Nominations on Day One

Jaipur, August 28: The nomination process for the Jaipur Municipal Corporation elections commenced on Thursday. On the first day, 11 candidates submitted a total of 13 nomination papers.

According to the district election office, nominations were accepted at the offices of returning officers across 15 locations in Jaipur from 10:15 AM to 3 PM. Of the 150 wards, nominations were filed for nine wards: 148, 99, 50, 12, 14, 16, 25, 31, and 40. No nominations were submitted for the remaining 141 wards.

Out of the 13 nomination papers, four were submitted by candidates wishing to contest as Congress representatives, while eight were filed by independent candidates. Two candidates submitted two nomination papers each—one as a party candidate and the other as an independent. The BJP and Congress have yet to release their official candidate lists.

Despite this, four candidates have linked themselves to the Indian National Congress (INC) while filing their nominations, although the party has not officially allocated election symbols yet.

Officials indicate that filing nominations before the official ticket announcements reflects the limited time candidates have during the election process. Nominations can only be submitted on August 29 and 31. No nominations will be accepted on August 28 due to the Raksha Bandhan holiday, and the returning officer’s offices will be closed on August 30, which falls on a Sunday.

It is expected that both the BJP and Congress will announce their candidate lists during the remaining nomination period, leading to a significant increase in the number of nominations over the next two working days.
