Guntur, July 1: A tragic accident occurred in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. Three individuals lost their lives in a fire following a collision between two trucks near Boyapalem in the Pratipadu mandal. The incident took place around 6 AM in Boyapalem village.
According to Inspector Narhari, one truck was traveling from Kurnool to Guntur, while the other was transporting paper goods from Guntur to Chilikuripet. The two trucks collided head-on on National Highway-16 near Boyapalem. Following the impact, both vehicles caught fire. Initial reports indicate that two drivers and one helper perished in the flames.
The accident caused significant traffic congestion on the national highway, as both trucks were engulfed in fire. Police arrived at the scene to initiate rescue and relief operations, diverting traffic to service roads to ease the crowd. Firefighters also reached the site to extinguish the blaze.
Earlier, on June 23, a severe road accident occurred in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Migrant workers from Gummadivedi village in Samarlakota were involved in a fatal incident on June 16 while returning home from a concrete fencing job near Kolluru, Guntur. The driver’s negligence led to their Bolero vehicle overturning around midnight, exacerbated by the construction materials loaded inside. Three workers died at the scene, while nine others sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Peddapuram for treatment. The deceased were identified as Masakapalli Balu, Muramalla Rajkumar, and Tathapudi Rajesh, all residents of Gummadivedi village. The driver was also injured in the accident.
