Tragic Road Accident Claims Lives of Four Amarnath Pilgrims in Punjab

Bhatinda, July 1: A tragic road accident in Bhatinda district of Punjab claimed the lives of four pilgrims heading to the Amarnath Yatra on Wednesday morning. Approximately eight others sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to the AIIMS in Bhatinda for treatment.

Officials reported that the incident occurred on the Bhatinda-Bikaner National Highway, where a vehicle carrying pilgrims from Rajasthan collided with a truck. All the devotees were traveling in a traveler vehicle, which was completely wrecked in the crash.

The accident caused chaos on the highway, leading to traffic congestion. However, a police team arrived promptly to manage the situation. The injured were swiftly transported to the hospital via ambulance, while the bodies of the deceased were taken into custody for post-mortem examinations.

Sandeep Singh, a worker from the Sahara Jan Seva organization, stated that their control room received information about the accident occurring between Jodhpur Romana and Gurusar Sanevala in Bhatinda. Upon arrival, they discovered that a traveler had collided with a stationary trailer. There were 11 to 12 passengers on board, with four confirmed dead at the scene and seven to eight injured.

He further noted that three bodies were sent to the civil hospital, while one was taken to AIIMS in Bhatinda. All the injured are currently receiving treatment at AIIMS. According to Sandeep Singh, the group was on their way to the Amarnath Yatra after visiting the Harmandir Sahib.

Dr. Lovdeep Singh, an emergency doctor at the civil hospital, reported that they received three bodies around 6:30 AM. They were informed that the accident on the highway resulted in three fatalities. All bodies have been placed in the mortuary, while the other injured individuals were taken to AIIMS in Bhatinda.

Dr. Lovdeep Singh mentioned that after reviewing their Aadhaar cards and other documents, it was confirmed that all the deceased were residents of the Barmer district in Rajasthan.
