New York, June 2: Another tragic shooting incident has emerged from the United States. In Muscatine, Iowa, seven individuals, including the suspected gunman, were found dead following shootings at multiple locations.
Muscatine police reported that officers responded to a shooting call at a residence around 12:12 PM local time (1712 GMT) on Monday. Inside the home, four individuals were discovered injured, and all four were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified a 52-year-old man as the suspect, who fled the house before authorities arrived. He was later found injured on the Riverfront Trail, having shot himself. According to reports from Xinhua News Agency, he was also pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, police discovered another body in a different home and one more at a local market.
In a statement, the police said, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute. At this time, it is believed that all the deceased were relatives of the suspect.”
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
This event recalls a familicide that occurred in Louisiana about a month and a half ago, where an individual murdered multiple family members. Such incidents are extremely rare but deeply shock society when they occur.
On April 19 in Shreveport, Louisiana, a man shot and killed eight children, aged between one and fourteen years. Seven of the children were his own, and the eighth was his nephew. This incident was considered one of the most dangerous shootings in recent times. Five of the deceased were girls, and three were boys. The shootings took place while the children were asleep, and domestic disputes were cited as the motive.
