Lucknow, July 1: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the tragic road accident that occurred on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao district. The incident resulted in the deaths of five individuals, with several others sustaining injuries.
Following the accident, Chief Minister Adityanath expressed his condolences to the affected families and instructed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured. He also directed authorities to communicate with the families of the deceased and provide all possible assistance.
The accident took place near kilometer marker 230.800 in the Bangarmau police station area of Unnao district. Officials reported that a collision between a bus and a car on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway resulted in five fatalities and numerous injuries on Wednesday morning.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the horrific accident was caused by the bus driver dozing off while driving. A speeding bus traveling from Haryana to Bihar suddenly lost control, collided with a car, and flipped over a few meters away. The impact was so severe that the car was completely wrecked.
Authorities indicated that there were nine people in the car at the time of the accident. Five of them died on the spot, while three others were critically injured. The injured were initially taken to the Bangarmau Community Health Center. Due to their serious condition, they were later referred to the Lucknow Trauma Center.
The deceased have been identified as Dhunmun (60), driver Vinod (45), Anju (40), Amrita (13), and Divya (6).
The bus overturning also resulted in injuries to over 17 passengers on board. Most sustained minor injuries. All injured individuals received treatment at a local hospital, and many were discharged after initial medical care.
Upon receiving news of the accident, police, administrative officials, and rescue teams arrived at the scene. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police inspected the accident site, visited the injured at the hospital, and reviewed medical arrangements. The police are currently conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
