New Delhi, August 16: A sanitation worker from the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) was brutally murdered in Kalyanpuri while on duty. Reports indicate that the assailant was captured on CCTV attacking the worker with a knife. Currently, the Delhi Police are analyzing the footage and other evidence to identify the attacker.
The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Anil Kumar, who worked as a sanitation employee with the MCD. Preliminary reports suggest that Anil was performing his duties around 7 AM on Sunday when he was attacked.
Following the incident, the assailant fled the scene. CCTV footage shows the attacker wielding a knife and fatally stabbing Anil. Police arrived promptly and initiated an investigation, forming multiple teams to apprehend the suspect based on the footage.
In the aftermath of this tragic event, BJP legislator Ravikant visited the scene. He expressed his condolences, stating, “This is an extremely sad incident. The truth is that while all of Delhi sleeps, it is these workers who keep the city awake.” He assured that they stand with the victim’s family.
Ravikant confirmed that the identity of the perpetrator has been established and that strict action will be taken against him. He added, “I have seen the CCTV footage. Anil was doing his job when the attacker suddenly struck.”
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party legislator Kuldeep Kumar raised concerns about the rising crime rate in Kalyanpuri. He questioned, “Has Kalyanpuri become the capital of crime? Murders are happening all over Delhi.”
Kumar emphasized the plight of the victim’s family, stating, “Consider the situation of a sanitation worker who does this job not out of choice, but due to economic circumstances. His life has been taken.”
He demanded immediate action from the police, calling for the assailant to be encountered swiftly to set a precedent and deter future incidents. Additionally, he urged that the victim’s family receive compensation and that a job be provided to a family member.
