New Delhi, August 16: The Delhi Police have arrested nine individuals in connection with three separate cases involving gambling, illegal alcohol, and theft. Authorities also seized cash, playing cards, and illicit liquor during these operations.
On Saturday evening, around 8 PM, the Khajuri Khas police received a tip-off about gambling activities taking place in front of E-Block, Shri Ram Colony, Gali Number 2. Acting swiftly, Head Constable Rohit, Head Constable Jubair, and Constable Pramod informed the SHO and conducted a raid at the location.
Upon seeing the police, the suspects attempted to flee, but the team managed to apprehend six individuals. The police recovered a deck of cards and ₹10,440 from the scene. The arrested suspects include Hanif (60), Ashif (29), Mohammad Saleem (30), Raju (60), another Hanif (38), and another Mohammad Saleem (40). An FIR has been registered at the Khajuri Khas police station. No prior involvement of the suspects was found during the investigation, which is ongoing.
In a separate incident, Sonia Vihar police spotted a woman in suspicious circumstances at an empty plot near Bedi Gas Agency during their patrol at 6:30 PM on Saturday. Upon searching her bag, they discovered 30 beer bottles, 30 half bottles, and 49 quarter bottles of various brands of illegal alcohol.
Head Constable Raj Hasan and Woman Constable Yasmeen arrived at the scene and arrested the 52-year-old woman, who was found to have a history of similar offenses. An FIR has been filed at the Sonia Vihar police station, and authorities are tracing the source of the alcohol supply.
In the third case, on August 3, Tashan Jain reported that approximately ₹35,000 had been stolen from his shop located on Main 20-Foota Road in Harsh Vihar. An e-FIR was registered in response.
Under the leadership of SHO Inspector Tej Dutt Gaur, a team comprising SI Sandeep, ASI Girish, Head Constable Gaurav, Head Constable Kundan, and Head Constable Bhupendra gathered evidence and apprehended two suspects. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of ₹10,000.
The arrested suspects in this case are Aryan (18) and Sunny (18). The police are continuing their investigations into all three cases.
