Raipur, May 2: A tragic incident unfolded in Chhattisgarh when Constable Paramanand Koram succumbed to injuries sustained in a blast in Kanker. He was transferred to Raipur for advanced medical treatment but unfortunately did not survive. Three of his comrades had already lost their lives in the explosion.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Chhote Betiya police station. A special team from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was conducting a crucial search and demining operation. The unit was deployed towards the Kanker-Narayanpur border to neutralize hidden landmines and ensure the area’s safety. During the search, an improvised explosive device (IED) buried in the ground detonated with a devastating blast.
The explosion was so powerful that it shook the surrounding area, leaving four personnel at the scene severely injured. Emergency protocols were activated, and the injured soldiers were rushed for medical assistance. However, the intensity of the blast proved fatal.
The fallen soldiers have been identified as District Reserve Guard in-charge Sukhram Vatti, Constables Krishna Komra, Sanjay Gadhpale, and Paramanand Koram. They were recognized for their significant role in maintaining security in the state’s Naxal-affected regions.
Their efforts to remove landmines reflect their ongoing struggle to free the land from hidden dangers, a mission that tragically cost them their lives this weekend.
Beyond the tactical loss, the human toll of this tragedy has deeply affected the village of Constable Sanjay Kumar Gadhpale. What was once a home filled with joy for a wedding planned for early 2027 is now shrouded in profound grief.
Constable Gadhpale returned home wrapped in the national flag, symbolizing the end of dreams for both him and his family.
As news of the martyrdom spread, the entire community gathered to pay tribute to the brave soldiers of the Bastar Fighters Force, who sacrificed their lives in the effort to neutralize explosives intended to harm others.
