Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Lives of Three Children in Jharkhand

Ranchi, April 3: A heartbreaking incident occurred in the Gufu Badka Toli village of the Torpa police station area in Jharkhand’s Khunti district on Thursday. Three schoolchildren tragically drowned in a local pond.

Among the victims were two brothers, which has sent shockwaves through the community. The children were students at the Government Primary School in Gufu. Instead of returning home after school, they went to play near a nearby pond. The deceased have been identified as Nimisan Gudiya (8 years old, Grade 2), his older brother Jaisan Gudiya (10 years old, Grade 3), and their friend David Gudiya (6 years old, Grade 1).

It is suspected that while swimming, the three children fell into deep water, leading to this tragic accident. When the children did not return home for a long time, Nimisan and Jaisan’s mother, Melani Gudiya, went searching for them and reached the pond. She was horrified to find their clothes and sandals on the shore. Her cries for help prompted local villagers Praveen Gudiya and Lukas Gudiya to jump into the pond immediately.

Despite their efforts, the three children were pulled from the water too late, having already lost their lives. This incident has left a permanent scar on the family of Suman Gudiya, who lost both of her sons, Nimisan and Jaisan, in this tragedy.

Since the incident, the families have been inconsolable. Local police and administration have been informed about the matter. Villagers are demanding compensation for the affected families during this sorrowful time.
