Mumbai, March 17: A tragic incident has emerged from Ghaziabad, where a young girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances. The police have detained a neighbor for questioning in connection with the case.
The incident reportedly occurred on the night of March 16, 2026, around 9 PM, when authorities received a tip-off about a girl lying injured in a field. Local residents and family members rushed her to the hospital. However, despite their efforts, the girl succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
In light of the seriousness of the situation, senior police officials inspected the scene. They called in forensic teams and a dog squad to gather evidence from the site.
Initial investigations revealed that a neighbor, identified as Gaurav Prajapati (approximately 24 years old), had lured the girl away under the pretext of buying her candies. After that, she did not return home. The accused is reportedly known to the family.
Taking the matter seriously, the police have begun interrogating Gaurav Prajapati, and they are in the process of filing a case based on the family’s complaint.
DCP Dhaval Jaiswal stated that around 9 PM on Monday, they received information about a girl found injured in a field, who was being taken to the hospital by local residents and family. The police promptly arrived at the hospital, where the girl was pronounced dead.
He added that the police have conducted a site inspection, and forensic teams along with the dog squad have collected evidence. Based on the family’s suspicions, Gaurav Prajapati has been taken into custody for questioning. Authorities are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the case to ensure appropriate legal action is taken.
