Noida Sanitation Workers Protest for Leaders Release, Strike Continues

Noida, March 17: The ongoing dispute over sanitation services in the city is escalating. On Tuesday, a large number of sanitation workers staged a vigorous protest outside the Noida Authority office, demanding the release of their arrested union leaders.

The workers issued a clear warning: they will not return to work until their colleagues are freed and the charges against them are dropped. On Monday, police detained eight individuals, including six union leaders, during a protest at Noida Stadium concerning their demands. All were later sent to jail.

Following this action, there has been significant outrage among sanitation workers, which has now manifested in open defiance. From Tuesday morning, groups of workers began gathering outside the authority’s office. Protesters alleged that their leaders were wrongfully arrested and that the action was intended to silence the workers’ voices.

They stated that they are united in their struggle to protect their rights and dignity and will not bow to any pressure. In response to the protests, the administration has remained on high alert. A heavy police presence has been deployed outside the authority’s office to manage any potential unrest. Police officials are on-site, engaging with protesters to maintain control of the situation.

Meanwhile, authority officials are also working to resolve the matter. Officers at the OSD and GM levels are in discussions with representatives of the sanitation workers to break the deadlock and ensure that the city’s sanitation services are not disrupted. However, no concrete solution has emerged yet. The sanitation workers have warned that if their demands are not addressed soon, they will escalate their movement. This could lead to further complications in the coming days, potentially impacting the city’s cleanliness.
