Dehradun, March 17: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended a screening of the much-discussed film ‘The Kerala Story 2’ at the Mall of Dehradun on Tuesday. He remarked that the film serves as a powerful medium to raise awareness about sensitive societal issues.
CM Dhami emphasized the state government’s commitment to women’s safety, social harmony, and population balance. He noted that Uttarakhand has become the first state in India to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), marking a historic initiative aimed at ensuring equality and justice in society.
He further stated that strict anti-conversion laws have been enacted in the state, effectively curbing incidents of illegal and forced conversions. He clarified that such laws work to enhance transparency, security, and trust within the community.
The Chief Minister asserted that the government’s objective is not against any specific group but rather to protect the rights of all citizens. He urged the youth to remain vigilant and play their part in fostering positive societal change.
He added that films like this provide society with an opportunity to think critically and understand complex issues, and the government supports every such effort. Present at the event were Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, MLAs Umesh Sharma Kau, Durgeshwar Lal, former MLA Rajesh Shukla, and other public representatives.
Earlier, CM Dhami provided detailed information about the upcoming Kumbh Mela scheduled for 2027 in Haridwar. He told reporters on Tuesday that the aim is to ensure a pleasant experience for all pilgrims attending the Kumbh Mela.
He mentioned that preparations for the Kumbh Mela are underway, with no room for negligence. A comprehensive plan has been in place for some time, and work is progressing accordingly.
CM Dhami stated that he is personally overseeing all preparations to ensure that no level of carelessness occurs. He also assured that all arrangements would be executed according to established guidelines. Additionally, many senior officials are fully committed to ensuring that all preparations for the Kumbh Mela are completed effectively. District-level officials are actively monitoring the preparations.
